Street festivals are very popular with children. This is especially true if they are associated with various activities such as games. Particularly suitable are station games, relay games and the like.
The advantages are obvious: The number of participants in such games is unlimited, and you also can implement as many stations as you want. The classic example of such a station game is the well-known Scavenger Hunt, where the participants have to solve different tasks at different stations at different places. But even in the form of a trail run or a hurdle course along the road, station games are relatively easy to implement and offer a lot of fun.
However, it must be understood that for all station games, relay games & Co. careful preparation is essential. Also, the cost of materials is usually higher than in other games, yet on the other hand, those games can go on for quite some time without participants or spectators getting bored. A well-stocked toy box will already hold some of the items used for station games. For example, those items that participants have to carry from one station to the next.

From a psychological point of view, station games are very well suited to develop and strengthen bonds within the group. It is particularly with those station games that children learn to rely on and trust each other. Everyone depends on the other. And last but not least, the children need to communicate well, to reach the common destination. It is advisable to organize the game in a way so that it is suitable for younger kids as well as for teens so that everybody can be integrated and no one feels overwhelmed or disadvantaged.
Stations- and relay games are suitable for all ages, as long as the tasks to fulfill at each station are adapted to the age of all participants.
