Game description
Before the game even starts, gather all the children around you and read them the story of Hansel and Gretel. Next, and you better have prepared that well before the game, you have 6, not too large containers with different scents. For example, this could be Spekulatius, tangerine, cinnamon, gingerbread or chocolate. After reading the story, those containers are passed around for all kids to smell. Who recognizes them all? Since you read the story beforehand, you could adjust the scents to the story. For example, using forest smells such as pine, etc. On the other hand, since there is also the witch’s cottage, you could use cinnamon and the other scents. To top it all up and have a particular surprise for all kids, the smell of chocolate, spiced biscuits and gingerbread can be matched with the biscuits. This for sure will make for a special night. Another alternative would be, to pass the scented containers around before you read the story and ask the children to guess by the different scents, which story you will read.
